The aim of this tool
The overall objective of the HUPMOBILE project is to provide a holistic approach to the planning, implementation, optimisation and management of integrated, sustainable mobility solutions in Baltic Sea port cities. Mobility in this context includes both people and goods (i.e., freight, cargo logistics and delivery). Concrete examples of innovations addressed are greener urban logistics and combinations of goods- and passenger traffic, intelligent traffic systems-based services, tools for stakeholder participation, and new tools for transportation mobility management and Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS). Thus, this tool looks broadly into mobility solutions affecting the sustainability of transportation – new mobility management policies, technical solutions, or new mobility services.
The simple, and at the same time, the bold aim of this tool is to help city planners to assess the impact of an implemented sustainable mobility solution together with selected participants of stakeholders. This tool is a trade-off between the amount of information needed to make an assessment and information needed to communicate the impact to stakeholders and other cities still thinking about implementing similar solutions. In this sense, this tool aims not to replace existing impact assessment methodologies or services but to help communicate the excellent work cities are doing in improving transportation sustainability. An example of the HUPMOBILE Impact Assessment result is below. More can already be found in the HUPMOBILE Database of successful mobility solutions from the Baltic Sea Region and beyond.
